The Gospel
The Gospel, or Good News as it is translated, is very simple, very straightforward, and very powerful. One does not need to be schooled in theology or have gone to church for many years to understand it. In fact, it is most effective and most powerful to those who have never heard it.
- Jesus was who He said He was; the Son of God.
- Jesus did what He said He did; He came to this world to die for YOUR sins. He proved this with many signs, miracles, and wonders, even raising people from the dead.
- Jesus was crucified, died and was buried according to the scriptures (the OLD Testament scriptures).
- Jesus then was raised from the dead so that we will not have to succumb to Death ourselves but have Eternal Life with Him in Paradise.
- Jesus will come again in Power and Glory to judge the living and the dead.
That is it. No special initiations. No secret ceremonies. No having to believe on blind faith preposterous claims from ridiculous men. Jesus was the Son of God and He came into this world to save sinners, pure and simple.
The Bible rightly says that all men (and women) are sinners and that all fall short of the expectations of God. But God sent His son to live the perfect life that we can not and to offer that perfect life as a substitute for our poor, broken lives.
All that is left is for YOU to accept his sacrifice as it is offered to you, as a free gift. In fact, if we had to do something to earn this gift then our sin would corrupt it and it would no longer be the perfect sacrifice that God demands of His creation. It MUST be freely offered to us and it MUST be freely accepted by us.
You are free to say no, and isn’t that the greatest sacrifice of all? Jesus emptied Himself into human flesh, lived among those He created, suffered humiliation and death at our hands, and endured the punishment that we so richly deserve. And through all that Jesus still allows us to say, “No, thank you.”
Won’t you please say, “Yes, I am a sinner and I deserve eternal punishment. But I accept your sacrifice, Jesus, and I make you Lord of my life, Savior of my soul, and Joy of my heart.“
