Hello Folks!

  • The fellows and I had our first deacon’s meeting Sunday night. It was a good time of fellowship, encouragement, and planning for the future. We are attempting to plan a Spring promotion attendance drive for around Easter time. Details will be forthcoming from next month’s meeting. We are also in the process of ordering more welcome kits. The visitor’s cards in these have enhanced our field for visitation immensely. We also discussed hospital visitation and went over a few things that would be helpful to me as a Pastor as I carry out this particular ministry. Sure enough, this was most timely; when I got off from Macy’s at 1 pm yesterday, I went to 3 different hospitals.
  • Bro. Joe’s brother Gregg is in Presby. in the ICU. Gregg and I talked for about 10 minutes. We did chat about spiritual things also. I assured him after prayer that we as a church were continually seeking GOD’S face on his behalf.
  • I then went to see Mrs. B in Mercy. The news keeps getting better. Her injury is not as bad as they had thought. There is no surgery needed and she may even be released in a few days! She was waiting for a regular room assignment from the trauma unit. As usual, her spirit was upbeat and encouraging.
  • Lastly, I hit Jefferson to see Mrs. L. She has pneumonia again. Jack was there and we had prayer together.
  • Sunday morning message will be “Forsaking Mercy.” Sunday evening will be “Death In The Pot.” <webmaster’s note, I hope it isn’t about the Pastor’s cooking ability!”>
  • I see that the weather forecast is for some pretty frigid weather in the evenings. If Sunday night’s weather poses problems for our folks to attend, I will ask the Deacons about cancellation. We will keep an eye on things.
  • Weez is still not too good; a “tad” better but still sounds like I used too!

I believe that is all for now. GOD bless each of you!
Keep Looking Up!

Updates January 2008: Happy New Year!

Hello Folks!

  • Sunday morning message will be “Justified By Works?”(Pt. 1) Sunday evening will be “Justified By Works?” (Conclusion.) I have waited a while to bring this message; it appears as though this is an acceptable time. If you don’t have answers for the “Salvation By Works” crowd, hopefully this should help.
  • We received quite a nice surprise yesterday (Sunday) night. We already knew that several of our folks were not able to attend the service. But the LORD brought us an entire family of six, who are looking for a church with evening services. On top of that, 3 more people who are kind of new for Sunday mornings, attended also. So we had around double the expected turnout! Perhaps if you could have attended you might have been blessed, or even blessed some one else!
  • Several current prayer items ( along with our on going ones); Missionary Doyle Whaley has been diagnosed with Altzheimers disease. Brother Shawn is scheduled for bladder surgery at Jefferson Friday. Sister Lois is scheduled for cataract surgery on the 23rd. Keep interceding for Sister Sandra to mend quickly. And Brother John will be seeing a surgeon on the 21st.
  • After the morning service this Sunday, there will be a Junior Church staff meeting.
  • After the evening service this Sunday, we will have our first 2008 Deacons’ meeting.
  • The “Ladies Of Prayer” hope to meet on the 28th at the home of Sister Stacey. This will be at 7:30 pm.

I believe that is all for now. I am off to my secular job shortly!
In HIS Mercy,
Pastor Don

Big Happenings For The Close of 2007

That’s right friends, 2007 is about to come to an end. Let’s find out what is happening.

  • This Saturday is an early Angelfood Distribution Day. While the orders are a bit lower this month we still need everyone to come out and have some fun!
  • This Sunday will be our Annual Business Meeting and Election of Officers. The ballot will be filled with new and fresh and smiling faces!
  • If you are a current Officer of the Church please make sure your report is ready for the meeting.
  • The Sunday Evening Message is one of the most important ones ever taught in recent memory. “The Valley Before the Mountain pt. 2″ deals with depression, discouragement, and stress that contributes to our interpersonal conflicts, especially during the tough times. Make it a point to be there if you or someone you love is having a rough time dealing with these issues.
  • Many of our most beloved members of the congregation are facing some serious physical ailments. Please remember to pray for them and everyone on our Thursday Evening Prayer List. The List is available in the foyer every Sunday Morning. Better yet, stop by Thursday evenings and help us hold one another up in corporate prayer to the Lord.
  • The Christmas Program is scheduled for December 17th at 7:00 PM. This is the one time of year that many folks we don’t normally see during the previous 12 months stop by to renew friendships and worship the Lord. Let’s make a special effort to minister to these people. They miss out on such blessings by not regularly attending so emphasize that their presence is appreciated and desired much more often.

The last few weeks of 2007 are chock full of excitement, growth, and ministry. Don’t wonder what is going on behind the scenes, come and be a part of it!

Do you think that our little church doesn’t have the reach the big mega churches have? Think again. The Missionaries we support are world wide and even this little website has a global reach.

In the time that we have been regularly posting updates and Christian Thoughts our reach has gone global. In the last 6 months people in 17 countries other than the United States have visited biblebaptisttemple.org.

  • SWEDEN SWEDEN 7.26%
  • GERMANY GERMANY 1.98%
  • CHINA CHINA 1.72%
  • CANADA CANADA 0.92%
