January 2008 Updates
Filed under: Updates — Leave A Comment » —Hello Folks!
- The fellows and I had our first deacon’s meeting Sunday night. It was a good time of fellowship, encouragement, and planning for the future. We are attempting to plan a Spring promotion attendance drive for around Easter time. Details will be forthcoming from next month’s meeting. We are also in the process of ordering more welcome kits. The visitor’s cards in these have enhanced our field for visitation immensely. We also discussed hospital visitation and went over a few things that would be helpful to me as a Pastor as I carry out this particular ministry. Sure enough, this was most timely; when I got off from Macy’s at 1 pm yesterday, I went to 3 different hospitals.
- Bro. Joe’s brother Gregg is in Presby. in the ICU. Gregg and I talked for about 10 minutes. We did chat about spiritual things also. I assured him after prayer that we as a church were continually seeking GOD’S face on his behalf.
- I then went to see Mrs. B in Mercy. The news keeps getting better. Her injury is not as bad as they had thought. There is no surgery needed and she may even be released in a few days! She was waiting for a regular room assignment from the trauma unit. As usual, her spirit was upbeat and encouraging.
- Lastly, I hit Jefferson to see Mrs. L. She has pneumonia again. Jack was there and we had prayer together.
- Sunday morning message will be “Forsaking Mercy.” Sunday evening will be “Death In The Pot.” <webmaster’s note, I hope it isn’t about the Pastor’s cooking ability!”>
- I see that the weather forecast is for some pretty frigid weather in the evenings. If Sunday night’s weather poses problems for our folks to attend, I will ask the Deacons about cancellation. We will keep an eye on things.
- Weez is still not too good; a “tad” better but still sounds like I used too!
I believe that is all for now. GOD bless each of you!
Keep Looking Up!
Pastor Don
