Brother Al Mesing has closed his eyes for the final time in this world and has opened them to behold his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the next.  Please pray for Betty and his children during their time of mourning for so beloved friend and husband.

Betty and his children will be receiving guests at the Jefferson Funeral Home on Saturday from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm.

On Sunday from 1pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm.

Services will be at the Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel starting at 11am.

Sister Dori Has Gone on to Meet the Lord

The details are few at the moment but the Pastor has confirmed that Sister Dori has passed on. She was in hospital at Presby when the Lord called her home.

Please join in prayer for her family to be at peace with her passing.  More details will be forthcoming as they are made available.

Baptist Deacon Faces Criminal Charges For Prayer in Public School in Florida (Washington Times)

Students, teachers and local pastors are protesting over a court case involving a northern Florida school principal and an athletic director who are facing criminal charges and up to six months in jail over their offer of a mealtime prayer.

Unicorns in the Bible

The Book of Job has many interesting give and takes in dialog. From discussing the meaning of life, the existence of evil, and even the nature of God, the Book of Job is considered one of the greatest literary works of Mankind in and of itself.

All too often, when the discussion of Job turns to its historicity and its place as an actual event, even Christians can be want to dismiss it as Hebrew poetry. Nothing can be further from the truth.

As a literalist, I approach the Bible with a firm reliance that what I am reading is historical fact… not merely based on history or mythologized stories. Not to say that when the Bible relates information that is meant to be taken as poetry or symbolism I twist it into some sort of weird fact starved caricature, I read the Bible as any other book is read, in the manner it was intended.
