Updates For Quite a While

September 19, 2008

UpdatesSorry everyone for missing a few weeks of updates.  I (webmaster) want to thank you all for your prayers for my illness and for the times of prayer my family needed.  I will try to update you all from the last few weeks starting with the most recent note from Pastor Don.

There have been some exiting times at Bible Baptist Temple since our last official update.  Just a reminder that it is getting very close to Nominating Committee meeting time!  Please keep in prayer what the Lord is prompting in your life and how He would have you serve the Body of Christ.

  • Brother Arthur came home on Wednesday and hopes to worship with us on Sunday if he feels strong enough.
  • Missionary Francis Landingin will be with us next week, Sept.28th. PLEASE NOTE THAT HE WILL ONLY BE WITH US IN THE EVENING SERVICE. HE WILL NOT BE WITH US IN THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL. SO THE TEACHERS CAN PREPARE FOR THEIR USUAL CLASSES. Bro. Landingin plans to minister in Cambodia. Pray to GOD what He would have you do as far as a love offering. Please plan to attend and support this brother.
  • Also, we hope to have a deacon’s meeting after the morning service of the 28th.  Deacons, if this is an inconvenient time please let me know as soon as possible.
  • On Oct. 5th (Communion Sunday) Missionary Travis Gravley and his family will be with us. PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY WILL BE WITH US IN THE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL TO MINISTER. WE WOULD LIKE FOR ALL CLASSES ( EXCEPT FOR THE LITTLE KIDS) TO BE IN THE SANCTUARY TO PARTICIPATE. He will also preach during the evening service. They are planning to minister in Romania. We hope to be able to present them with a generous love offering also.
  • If any of you would be interested in providing a meal for either of these missionaries ( The Gravleys Saturday night through Sunday night and Bro Landingin sometime Sunday evening) let me or Mrs. Thompson know. Also keep in mind that we want to have a good display on hand to set out from our missionary store room.
  • Brother Joe’s father, Lou, had surgery with six by passes last week. All went well.
  • Brother John laid to rest his sister, Margie.  She knew the Lord and is now in his presence with all the angels.
  • Friend of the Pastor, Crystal, has also repented of her sin and accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  • Sister Betty laid to rest her father in earlier this month, and that on the heels of her husband passing.  Thank you for all the prayer and well wishes for her and her family.
  • Brother John had his back surgery and is recovering remarkably well.
  • Quick update on VBS last month.  We had at least 8 children (and one adult) raise their hand in acceptance of Jesus as their savior!  Now begins our wonderful responsibility to help these new believers grow in their faith.
I think that is a good round up of many of the happenings.  If yours was missed I apologize and hope the next update we can make will be full of praise and thanksgiving for the wonderful works the Lord has done in our congregation.
