Updates and Prayer: June 2008

June 4, 2008

Updates June 2008Pastor Alton Smith and his wifes’ ministering was a blessing this past Sunday morning. Once again, our folks were able by GOD’S grace to provide them with a generous love offering for their mission field. Pray for Bro. Alton Smith’s health. He suffers from a disorder referred to as Iron Storage; his body can collect way too much iron if he is not careful and this can lead to all kinds of bodily function problems.

We heard from the Cacals on Monday night. Prospero called as we had asked before they head for the airport Tuesday. Today (Wednesday) he and Irene will begin their flight to the Philippines. They are excited about going to the field GOD has called them to and the soon arrival of their baby girl.

This Sunday’s morning message will be “Guaranteed Success.” This will be geared towards our graduates whom we plan to honor but is also an applicable message for everyone. After the morning service we are planning to get together in the fellowship hall for a Vacation Bible School meeting. Bro. Tom would like to get some basic plans laid as far as staff and the dates. Ask GOD what HE would have you to do this year. Sunday evening message will be “Highlights From Ephesians; Your Blessed Position.”

It would be good to note in the bulletin that we are only having Sunday School and morning worship on Father’s Day, the 15th. This will hopefully remind some of our new folks who may not use the internet. Some times folks miss the verbal announcements also. Plus, several of our newer people have been coming on Sunday evenings. We even had a visitor this past Sunday evening. This will let every one know a week ahead of time.

The Deacons and I have tentatively scheduled who will be filling in on the 22nd & 29th (morning and evening) while I am laid aside for recuperation from surgery. Bro. Tom will be away on the 22nd. Fellows, we need to consider who is going to open the Sunday School at 10am in the sanctuary. I have a sheet already made out with verses and boxed memory verses for the Sword drills. So, who ever GOD leads to help us with this, let me know by phone or e mail, and I can show you the sheet I use. If the man who opens wants to do something else, that is fine too. Bro. Tom said he will make it a point to cover the Prayer Meeting on the 26th (Thursday). Maybe the July 3rd Prayer Meeting will find me ok to hold. We will see. Also, keep in mind to be flexible in case something unforeseen comes up. Andy usually leads the singing so the morning speakers need to get with him about any thing he made need to know about the order of the service.

Our air conditioning seemed to work fine this past weekend. We are really going to need it this weekend as it looks like a scorcher! Pray for our folks to get through the coming hot spell as some have breathing problems along with other infirmities that extreme heat can affect.

Weez has been suffering with allergy symptoms for the past 3 days. Pray for some relief for her as her symptoms can get extreme. Pray about my Macy’s position. In order to keep me, that had to change my job title to store detective. Now there’s a real laugh! In the natural sense of things, this buys me time but will eventually catch up to me. I don’t have the natural ability for this. But, our GOD is supernatural! My surgery is scheduled for the 20th and this is very close to when my health care changes (July 1st). Hopefully the “red tape” will not cause me to find Weez and I uncovered because of the transition. We will see! We know WHO is in charge! HE maketh no mistakes!

In HIS Wonderful Grace,
Pastor Don
